Joe Wilson Speaks For Me... Too.

From the transcript posted online by CBS, these were the words spoken by the President just prior to Joe Wilson's exclamation, "Lie ! You Lie!". I was listening on the radio and heard every word. Pure demogoguery that made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end... literally. It was not the particular statement on illegals which prompted Rep Wilson's response, it was these statements in total.

"Some of people's concerns have grown out of bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost. The best example is the claim made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but by prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens. Now, such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple. There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms -- the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

 Many independent organizations have confirmed that bureaucratic panels will be set up to determine life's solemnity, that illegals will not be excluded from participating in the program, and that abortions, addressing the President's comments which directly followed the retort from Rep Wilson, will be federally funded under the current version of legislation to which the President refers.

Who believes that Republican politicians and conservative talk show hosts want to "kill reform at any cost"? Is reiterating concerns being raised and cases being documented by British and Canadian citizens who live with Socilized healthcare cynical and irresponosible? Is it "lying, plain and simple"?

 

You can argue that the decorum of the chamber was disrupted, but Bob Lonsberry provides a great rebuttal.
